Privacy Policy

BetGenie respects your privacy. This Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you under U.S. state privacy laws (including CCPA/CPRA-style rights where they apply).

1. Information we collect

Account data: username, email, phone (optional), state/region for responsible-gaming resources, role, subscription status, locale preference.
Paper betting & preferences: simulated (paper) bets and parlay history in the Tracker, ranking preferences, notification settings, and legal consent records.
Usage data: pages viewed, clicks, searches, session duration, device/browser type, approximate IP address, error diagnostics.
Community content: chat messages, reports, and moderation metadata when you use Community features.
Support & feedback: messages you send via contact forms or in-app feedback.
Payment metadata: plan tier and billing status from our payment processor (we do not store full card numbers).
Cookies & local storage: essential session/CSRF cookies; optional analytics cookies (e.g. PostHog) only after you accept analytics in our cookie banner; UI preferences.

2. How we use information

Provide, secure, and improve the Service (including paper tracking and educational signals).
Personalize dashboards, helplines, and plan-gated features.
Send transactional email (security alerts, password reset, policy updates, subscription receipts).
Send optional product or newsletter messages where you have opted in — commercial email includes our postal address and an unsubscribe path (CAN-SPAM).
Detect abuse, moderate UGC, debug errors, and measure product performance.
Comply with law and enforce our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy.

3. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share data with:

Service providers (hosting, email, analytics, payment, error monitoring) under confidentiality obligations.
Legal requests when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Business transfers in connection with a merger or acquisition with notice where required.

Analytics tools may set first- or third-party cookies when you choose Accept all on the cookie banner. You may choose Essential only or revisit preferences via the cookie controls on the site.

4. Retention

We retain account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backups, disputes, and legal compliance. Paper bet history is retained with your account unless you request deletion. Analytics events are purged on a rolling basis (default 90 days). You may request deletion subject to exceptions (e.g., billing records we must keep).

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS, password hashing, CSRF protection, rate limiting, and role-based access. No method is 100% secure — report suspected breaches to Contact immediately.

6. Your privacy rights (CCPA & similar laws)

Depending on your location you may have rights to:

Know / access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold
Delete personal information (subject to legal exceptions)
Correct inaccurate personal information
Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising
Limit use of sensitive personal information to providing the Service
Non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

California and comparable state residents: see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. Submit requests via Contact with subject Privacy Request. We verify identity before fulfilling requests. Authorized agents may submit with written permission. EU/UK users may have additional GDPR rights — contact us to exercise them.

7. Children

BetGenie is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us for prompt deletion.

8. Changes

We will post updates here with a revised date. Material changes may require renewed consent at login.
